TECO 2030, a Norwegian engineering company specializing in sustainable technologies, has announced the start of manual fuel cell stack production at its Innovation Center in Narvik, Norway.

The fuel cell stacks are an essential component of TECO 2030’s hydrogen fuel cell system, which aims to provide clean, efficient, and reliable power for marine and land-based applications. This is a significant milestone for the company, bringing it one step closer to commercializing its fuel cell technology.

TECO 2030’s Innovation Center in Narvik is a state-of-the-art facility with advanced manufacturing equipment and highly skilled technicians. The facility will initially produce fuel cell stacks in small quantities, with plans to scale up production with the delivery of ThyssenKrupp Automation Engineering’s production equipment to meet the growing demand for fuel cell technology in the marine and heavy-duty industries.

The manual production of fuel cell stacks is a crucial step towards commercialising TECO 2030’s fuel cell technology. Fuel cell stacks are the core of the hydrogen fuel cell system and are responsible for converting hydrogen and oxygen into electricity, heat, and water. The stacks are made up of individual fuel cells, which are assembled into a stack to produce the required power output. Manual production allows for rigorous quality control and testing of each fuel cell, ensuring reliability and efficiency.

TECO 2030’s fuel cell technology is developed from the bottom up for marine applications and follows strict classification approvals. The system is designed to reduce greenhouse gas emissions and improve energy efficiency in various applications, including marine transport, power generation, and heavy-duty transportation. Using hydrogen fuel cells in marine transport has significant environmental benefits, with the potential to reduce carbon dioxide emissions by up to 100%.

With the start of manual fuel cell stack production, TECO 2030 is on track to deliver on its commitment to providing reliable, cost-effective, and sustainable solutions to shipowners worldwide. The company’s fuel cell technology offers a cleaner, more sustainable alternative to traditional fossil fuels, reducing greenhouse gas emissions and addressing climate change in energy-intensive industries.
