TEMSA which allocates approximately 5 percent of its turnover to research and development annually, has teamed up with Portugal-based zero-emission bus manufacturer CaetanoBus to create an intercity bus powered by hydrogen fuel.
This joint development agreement represents a pivotal moment in the transition to zero-emission mobility. It combines CaetanoBus’s expertise in Toyota hydrogen fuel cell technology with TEMSA’s vast experience in electric and long-distance buses. The result? A hydrogen-fueled intercity bus that’s set to redefine sustainable transportation.
The first prototype of this visionary hydrogen bus is expected to roll out in 2024, with mass production slated for 2025 at TEMSA’s Adana facility. This bus aims to shatter the limitations of range, with an impressive capability of covering up to 1,000 kilometers on a single tank. This range flexibility will make it a versatile and practical choice for intercity travel, ensuring that passengers can journey long distances without the need for refueling.
TEMSA has been a trailblazer in the realm of zero-emission vehicles, offering eight different models, including one electric and nine hydrogen-powered vehicles. With this new addition, their zero-emission product range expands to 10 vehicles. In addition to this milestone, TEMSA holds the distinction of developing Turkey’s first domestic electric bus in collaboration with ASELSAN, a significant step toward greener public transportation.
