The hydrogen terminal tractor is being developed, and it will be tested for two years at the Valencia Terminal Europa facilities in the Valencia port.

Atena has already begun industrial development of the hydrogen terminal tractor, which will be tested for two years in real-world conditions at Grimaldi’s Valencia Terminal Europa facilities in Valencia’s port.

This tractor head will be powered by a Ballard fuel cell, and for refueling, a mobile station developed by CNH2 will be used, ensuring adequate fuel supply for both this pilot and the’reach stacker’ that will be tested in the MSCTV terminal, which will also be powered by a fuel cell.

The vehicle is equipped with a hybrid fuel cell and battery powertrain that allows it to complete all of the demanding tasks required during loading and unloading operations.

Its hydrogen storage system, which consists of four type 3 tanks (350 bar) with a total capacity of about 12 kg, ensures continuous operation for at least six hours before refueling, while its electric motor is sufficient for high-power applications.

This electric motor can get traction power from both the fuel cell and the battery at the same time, or charge the battery while braking or decelerating.

If needed, the fuel cell can power both the electric motor and the battery at the same time.
