Tevva, a British automaker, has debuted a 19-ton version of its hydrogen-electric truck.

310 miles is the maximum distance the Tevva 19-ton truck can travel (500 km). Hydrogen’s low energy density, compared to that of a conventional battery, is the key advantage of using it in an electric truck.

To prevent the battery from overheating, for example, Tevva’s vehicles are equipped with an on-board computer that can automatically switch between hydrogen and electric power.

Tevva’s UK plant has begun making the larger truck type, and the company has plans to open a second European plant that will increase annual output to 6,000 vehicles by 2024.
