In order to supply Port Bienville Industrial Park and Stennis International Airport with zero-carbon, zero-methane hydrogen, Hy Stor Energy LP joined forces with the Hancock County Port and Harbor Commission.

By means of this collaboration, Port Bienville will be the first port in the Gulf Region to run on renewable hydrogen. The hydrogen hub is anticipated to create around 350 tons (320,000 kg) of renewable hydrogen per day during the first phase of the cooperation and store more than 71,000 tons (69 million kg) of hydrogen underground in salt caverns.

In order to better support decarbonization efforts, the current Port Bienville infrastructure will be expanded. It will also be in a prime location to support the new manufacture of circular hydrogen infrastructure, the first of its type in the United States. In order to achieve their own ESG goals, port clients will be able to hire more employees, enhancing the port’s status as a center of industry and technology employment.

Hy Stor Energy and HCPHC will collaborate to support Hancock County’s economic expansion and supply dependable, renewable energy to the Gulf Coast and coastal Mississippi. Leading businesses, including SABIC Innovative Plastics, DAK Americas, SNF Polychemie, Calgon Carbon, and Jindal Tubular USA, among others, are currently based at Port Bienville Industrial Park.

CEO Bill Cotter, HCPHC, stated, “Hancock County Port and Harbor Commission is devoted to expanding economic possibilities in a responsible manner. A new strategy to reduce carbon emissions in energy-intensive industries like manufacturing and transportation is hydrogen. Hydrogen offers choices to power development and innovations as our maritime, rail, and aerospace sectors continue to expand.

On the Gulf Coast, Hancock County, Mississippi, is in a strategic location with easy access to rail, road, and highway networks. Hancock County, which lies east of New Orleans, is home to NASA’s John C. Stennis Space Center, Stennis International Airport, and Port Bienville, all of which facilitate domestic and international travel. Hy Stor Energy’s Clean Hydrogen Hub, which has offices in Jackson, Gulfport, and Kiln in Port Bienville, will create renewable hydrogen.

Hy Stor Energy CEO Laura L. Luce remarked, “We are happy to join with the Hancock County Port and Harbor Commission to bring renewable hydrogen access to Port Bienville Industrial Park, including some of the most recognizable corporations in the world. “This cooperation offers businesses seeking creative solutions to achieve their decarbonization goals the option to co-locate operations in Hancock County in the Gulf Region. For a wide range of uses, such as manufacturing and industrial processes, port operations, and long-duration energy storage that will benefit communities while delivering dependable clean power, we are concentrating on creating zero-carbon, zero-methane renewable hydrogen technology.
