SK E&S to showcase hydrogen-powered fuel cell and drone at US expo
At an upcoming U.S. tech expo early next month, SK E&S Co., the natural gas power arm of SK Group, it will display sustainable energy solutions, such as a drone and fuel cell fueled by hydrogen as well as equipment for charging electric vehicles.
The GenDrive hydrogen fuel cell power pack and GenFuel dispenser will be jointly displayed by SK E&S and its American partner, Plug Power, at CES 2023, which is scheduled to take place in Las Vegas from January 5 to 8.
After investing US$1.6 billion in the American hydrogen company, SK E&S and Plug Power established a joint venture last year to cooperate in the hydrogen business.
In addition, SK E&S will unveil a drone powered by liquid hydrogen that earlier this year set a record for this category of unmanned aerial vehicle by flying for 13 hours and 24 minutes.
France criticizes Germany for “hypocritical” attitude toward hydrogen from nuclear
Agnes Pannier-Runacher, the French minister of energy, criticized her German counterpart for having a “hypocritical” attitude toward hydrogen generated using nuclear energy.
The Czech EU Presidency proposed adding a new clause, Article 8a, to the EU Gas Directive, which is still being negotiated, as a result of a Franco-German agreement to maintain some energy neutrality.
Berlin supported the idea, which would make low-carbon hydrogen eligible for use in attaining the EU Renewable Energy Directive’s decarbonization goals for industry and transportation.
But since since, the Council’s legal department has questioned the validity of the provision. The anti-nuclear nations responded by reiterating their objection to hydrogen that was not created using clean electricity.
Given the “climate emergency” that necessitates the mobilization of all accessible low-carbon energy sources, Pannier-Runacher stated at the Energy Council conference in Brussels that these attitudes are “very hypocritical.”
CWP Global talks green hydrogen in Morocco
Mark W. Crandall, the CEO of CWP Global, traveled to the Kingdom of Morocco and met with business and industry leaders to talk about the manufacture and export of green molecules.
The company predicts it will be able to take between 5 and 10% of the global market for green hydrogen.
According to Crandall, “His Majesty the King’s Enlightened Vision to prepare + a Morocco offer + in green hydrogen, is tremendously reassuring for us and strengthens our view that the Kingdom will be one of the main actors in this new planetary green ecosystem.”
Nel to supply hydrogen refuelling stations for US client
Nel ASA has signed a multi-million dollar Capacity Reservation Agreement (CRA) with an unnamed US energy business to build 16 hydrogen refueling stations in the United States.
According to the agreement, Nel will set aside space and begin purchasing long-lead supplies for gas stations. Once a definitive purchase order is completed, Nel’s facility in Herning, Denmark, will start producing the equipment.
The first deliveries are anticipated to start in late 2023 and continue until 2024.
The CRA, valued at roughly $7 million (€6.6 million), will be paid upon signature; the total purchase order is anticipated to be $17 million (€16 million). In 2023, a definitive agreement is anticipated to be reached.
