Vertom gets 3rd methanol/hydrogen-ready electric bulker
The third dry bulk vessel constructed by fellow countryman Thecla Bodewes Shipyards, MV Vertom Tomma, has been delivered to Vertom Group.
The Vertom Tomma sailed from the Kampen shipyard last week for the port of Harlingen, where it finished her sea trials in less than a week, according to the constructor. The bulker was introduced this year in July.
The third ship in the Labrax series of ten ships, Vertom Tomma, is the product of years of investment in efficient, affordable, and adaptable diesel-electric propulsion systems.
The ships have two a-synchronous propulsion engines and four truck-sized generating sets that are off-the-shelf. They are 118.60 meters in length, 14.30 meters in width, and have a full-box cargo hold with a capacity of 329,700 cubic feet (7,280 dwt).
