ArcelorMittal to buy Pecém’s green hydrogen
Erick Torres, CEO of ArcelorMittal, announced that the company will buy green hydrogen generated at the Pecém Port and Industrial Complex (CIPP).
The statement was made this Wednesday, 25th, at the Fiec Summit, an international gathering of 36 participating countries that focuses on the hydrogen production chain in Brazil.
Enap presents hydrogen plan to Dutch delegation
Gloria Maldonado, head of the Enap Board of Directors, outlined the work plan the state-owned firm is carrying out in order to hasten the growth of the green hydrogen industry in Magallanes to a special delegation of Dutch enterprises.
The meeting was arranged by the Dutch embassy and included José Ruiz, the presidential delegate in Magallanes; María Luisa Ojeda, the minister of energy; Claudio Radonich, the mayor of Punta Arenas; Rodrigo Bustamante, the manager of ENAP Magallanes; and Juris Agüero, the manager of development of New Businesses of ENAP.
The president of ENAP discussed the port facilities that the organization possesses in Tierra del Fuego province and on continental territory. Some of these facilities, like those in Laredo, Gregorio, and Cabo Negro, already have agreements in place with businesses interested in developing green hydrogen projects.
Expanding cooperation between Kazakhstan and EU
In Brussels, the transport minister had several one-on-one talks with the leaders of European organizations. According to the department’s press service, Marat Karabaev met in the Belgian capital with the CEO of the Belgian-French construction company BESIX, Philippe Dessa, as well as the European Commissioner for Transport Adina Valean, the President of the EBRD, and Vice-President of the European Commission, Maros Sefcovic.
During the sessions, topics including expanding building, energy, transportation, and logistics cooperation between Kazakhstan and the EU were covered. Marat Karabaev also participated in the signing of a contract for the shipping of ammonia and pure hydrogen from the port of Kuryk to Europe, which was between the Hyrasia One firm and the Sarzha maritime terminal. The parties were signed by Madina Anet, the business development director of SEMURG INVEST LLP, and Wolfgang Kropp, the leader of the European company.
New Mexico to become site of Star Scientific’s first North American operation
Officials from New Mexico went across the globe to sign a deal that will bring significant investment in green hydrogen to the state.
New Mexico will be the site of Star Scientific Ltd.’s first North American operation, the Australian-based green hydrogen research and manufacturing business announced Wednesday night, along with Gov. Michelle Lujan Grisham and Global Group Chair Andrew Horvath of Star Scientific Ltd. It was Thursday on that continent when the revelation was made during the Asia-Pacific Hydrogen Summit and Exhibition hosted by the Sustainable Energy Council in Sydney.
The business intends to spend $100 million building a massive manufacturing and research complex in Mesa del Sol. According to Star Scientific authorities, 200 workers will eventually be employed in a 50-acre facility with seven to ten buildings for laboratory research, administration, design, testing, and manufacturing.

Queensland bill authorizes green hydrogen pipelines
Companies hoping to decarbonize their heavy haulage, maritime, aviation, and industrial operations are likely to find it easier to employ hydrogen thanks to the Gas Supply and Other Legislation (Hydrogen Industry Development) Amendment Bill 2023.
Green hydrogen, according to Queensland Energy, Renewables, and Hydrogen Minister Mick de Brenni, is “the next frontier in Queensland’s energy industry,” providing the biggest chance for exports, jobs, and the climate in a generation.
According to him, green hydrogen will “change the game” for the transportation, heavy haulage, shipping, and aviation sectors—which together produce over 20% of Australia’s emissions—and open up a new job market. Across the state, more than fifty hydrogen projects are underway. One of the major projects is the CQ-H2 central Queensland hydrogen project, which would be led by Stanwell Corporation and located near Gladstone. The project would create ammonia and hydrogen.
