Fortescue and HTEC ink green hydrogen MoU

A Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) for a green hydrogen project in Canada that would target both domestic and export markets has been inked by Fortescue Metals and the Canadian hydrogen business HTEC.

Currently under development is Fortescue’s green hydrogen and green ammonia manufacturing facilities in British Columbia (BC). That hydrogen would be bought by HTEC to be utilized in fueling stations catering to the transportation industry.

Fortescue filed a proposal for the “Project Coyote” production plant in the British Columbian town of Prince George. The project would generate about 700,000 tons of ammonia and 140,000 tonnes of hydrogen annually if allowed.

CMB.TECH and Boeckmans to build four hydrogen-powered cargo vessels

CMB.TECH and Boeckmans have announced a partnership that will expedite the decarbonization of the maritime sector. The partnership entails the creation of four future-proof, hydrogen-powered, 5,000dwt general cargo vessels that have much lower greenhouse emissions.

It is anticipated that the first vessel will be delivered in 2025’s second half. The Dung Quat shipyard in Vietnam will construct the vessels, which will be used on important maritime routes such as the Mediterranean, North and West Africa, as well as northern Europe.

First Hydrogen welcomes representatives to test drive its hydrogen fuel cell-powered LCV

At the HORIBA MIRA proving facility in Coventry, First Hydrogen welcomed representatives from 21 UK fleet operators and industry experts to test drive its revolutionary hydrogen fuel cell-powered light commercial vehicles (LCV). Among the attendees were fleet managers from the supermarket industry, representing companies including Asda and Sainsbury’s, DPD parcel delivery, NHS England, VINCI Group, Anglo American mining, and Network Rail. There were also a number of utility companies present, including Northern Gas Networks, SGN, National Gas, and Wales & West Utilities.

Vehicle leasing and rental firms also showed interest in the track day; ARVAL (BNP Paribas Group), Novuna, and Redde Northgate were among the attendees, along with Glass’s Guide, an authority on residual value in the British automotive trade.

Verne and ARTA partner on hydrogen refuelling

Verne and ARTA have reached an agreement to work together on the development of high-density hydrogen refueling systems for large trucks.

Cryo-compressed hydrogen (CcH2) nozzles and receptacles for heavy-duty truck refueling stations are being developed and demonstrated by the two firms.

At a storage pressure of less than 400 bar, CcH2 storage systems can achieve hydrogen densities of 73g per litre, a 35% improvement over liquid hydrogen storage systems. CcH2 delivers higher densities than liquid hydrogen systems without causing boil-off losses.
