Rotterdam plans future free of carbon emissions thanks to hydrogen

The development of hydrogen in Rotterdam, the Dutch distribution system operator Stedin’s headquarters and the location of Europe’s largest seaport, is laying the groundwork for a future free of carbon emissions.

In a project on the Dutch island of Ameland, Stedin began testing the creation of green hydrogen and its mixing with natural gas as early as 2007.

Stedin subsequently set up a larger trial closer to home in the Rotterdam municipality town of Rozenburg with the help of the findings from this and the desire to surpass the hydrogen blending limit, which is often considered as roughly 20%.

This trial, which is still ongoing with at least another year left, is almost a decade after it began and has added important knowledge about how DSOs can use the current gas network to safely and reliably distribute sustainable gases like green hydrogen. Its first phase was expanded in 2018 with the production of synthetic methane.


PowerTap provides hydrogen partnership and station updates

The operations of PowerTap Hydrogen Fueling Corp, a completely owned subsidiary, have been updated by PowerTap Hydrogen Capital Corp.

PowerTap Hydrogen Fueling Corp, with its technology partner T2M Global, has made good progress in engineering and supply chain validation of the PowerTap Gen3 Modular Hydrogen Production and Dispensing Unit for PowerTap’s plan to establish FCEV hydrogen refueling stations.

T2M Global has spent hundreds of hours on its component supply chain, CO2 use and sequestration strategy, and first station delivery of a minimum viable product.

The PowerTap Gen3 Modular Hydrogen Production and Dispensing Unit has achieved strong progress in engineering and supply chain validation, according to the business, during the previous 75 days. This is in support of PowerTap’s intention to create light-duty and heavy-duty FCEV hydrogen filling stations.

The firm also provided investors with an update on station deployments, indicating that PowerTap anticipates getting building permits for the Fortuna station in 3Q 2023 and completing construction by 1Q 2024 thanks to unanimous City of Fortuna consent.


Pyeongtaek City to promoe hydrogen energy conversion

With Korea Western Power, Korea Gas Corporation, Pyeongtaek E&S, and Mico Power, a business agreement for the promotion of hydrogen energy conversion projects had been struck in Pyeongtaek-si, Gyeonggi-do.

By transforming current thermal power generation to hydrogen energy generation by 2026, the city intends to provide environmentally friendly electricity to the area under the terms of this agreement.

The goal is to build a hydrogen metropolis similar to Pyeongtaek that eliminates the need for boilers by feeding metropolitan areas with the thermal energy produced throughout the process.

Through the use of hydrogen fuel cells and hydrogen (co-firing/burning) power generation, Korea Western Power will produce environmentally friendly electricity and thermal energy.

In the near future, a complex dedicated to producing and supplying hydrogen will be built by Korea Gas Corporation, and in the long run, green hydrogen from abroad will be introduced and supplied to Western Power.

By supplying Korea Western Power with thermal energy generated by hydrogen energy as collective energy throughout Pyeongtaek City, including Hwayang District, Hyeondeok District, and Godeok New Town, through a heat pipe network, Pyeongtaek E&S will support a hydrogen energy conversion project.

The effort to construct a hydrogen city in the Pyeongtaek area is anticipated to be further accelerated by this agreement, and it will also present a chance for broad-area expansion, according to the city.


Metro do Porto gets €7.7M for the green hydrogen metrobus

According to a decision by the Council of Ministers published in Diário da Repblica, Metro do Porto has been given permission to spend 7.68 million euros to maintain the green hydrogen system that will be installed on the Boavista metrobus.

“Expenses deriving from the maintenance of the BRT [Bus Rapid Transit, often known as “metrobus”] Boavista, the hydrogen production plant and the respective source of green energy that feeds it. its operation and other associated equipment” were permitted for Metro do Porto to incur.

Shanghai Petrochemical carbon fiber for hydrogen-powered trams

Tyczka Hydrogen adds hydrogen filling station at Augsburg freight hub

HS2 provides hydrogen power at Euston site

In order to charge a fully electric JCB telehandler, Mace Dragados Joint Venture, the construction company building HS2’s new Euston station, is testing a hydrogen fuel cell provided by AFC Energy.

SinoSynergy submits application for Hong Kong IPO

SinoSynergy, a Zhejiang province-based hydrogen fuel cell business, submitted an application for listing on the Hong Kong Stock Exchange with Huatai Financial Holdings listed as the only sponsor.

SinoSynergy was founded in 2015 and is currently valued at $779 million (about 7 billion yuan). Flexible graphite bipolar plates, fuel cell stacks, systems, fuel cell air filters, stationary fuel cell power generation systems, and other items are among its offerings. In the development of more than ten national and industry standards pertaining to hydrogen fuel cells, it has taken the lead or contributed.

H2X Global converts MOU with Gothenburg for hydrogen commercial vehicles

Renova AB, one of Sweden’s largest municipal garbage firms, and H2X Global Limited, through its subsidiary H2X Gothenburg and European Head Quarters situated in Sweden, announce the successful conversion of a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) to deliver hydrogen-powered commercial vehicles to Renova AB.

Ten municipalities in the Gothenburg Region of western Sweden hold Renova. Two 18-ton garbage backloader units, a 3.5-ton light commercial truck with a tail lift, and two more Warrego Pick-Ups are part of the initial order.

The MOU also includes 3.5 tonne tail lift light commercial truck units that will be implemented soon. H2X Global Limited’s commitment in Scandinavia for the development and manufacturing of commercial hydrogen cars for the public & transport business using hydrogen fuel cell electric propulsion is strengthened by this decision to include more commercial vehicles from the original MOU.

With the conversion of their current fleet of diesel-powered vehicles to zero-emission trucks powered by hydrogen fuel cell electric drive systems, the City of Gothenburg has made a clear commitment to reaching Sweden’s target of net zero before 2045 and to reducing emissions by 70% compared to 2010 by the end of this partnership with Renova AB and the City of Gothenburg.

Delivery of these vehicles is expected to begin in the second half of 2023.
