First snow groomer powered by hydrogen undergoes testing in Salzburg

The next phase of Snow Space Salzburg’s ambition to become carbon neutral by 2026 has begun. The first snow groomer powered by hydrogen is now undergoing testing.

The ski area’s CO2 emissions should therefore be significantly reduced by 2025 when the current fleet is replaced with the new hydrogen snow groomers.

Snow groomers powered by hydrogen will be mass-produced and used in Flachau starting in 2025.

The ski areas in Salzburg underwent change as a result of the climate crisis. Clear objectives for the future were established, solar systems were constructed, and wind turbines were planned. The Snow Space Salzburg lift firm, which includes Flachau, St. Johann, and Wagrain, previously submitted a thorough plan of efforts to be climate-neutral at the start of the winter season in 2025–2026 last year. The initial steps have already been taken, like emphasizing renewable energy sources.

Toyota Mirai FCEV on showcase at WFES

The hydrogen-powered Toyota Mirai Fuel Cell Electric Vehicle (FCEV) and a Fuel Cell Forklift created by Toyota Industries Corporation will be on exhibit at the World Future Energy Summit this week in Abu Dhabi, putting Toyota’s environmentally friendly transportation solutions in the spotlight.

Both products make use of cutting-edge hydrogen FCEV technology to give effective performance with no emissions, which is a key component of Toyota’s various pathways to carbon neutrality strategy.

Toyota started developing its hydrogen FCEV technology, which uses oxygen and hydrogen to create energy to run an electric motor and only leaves water behind, in 1992. The ground-breaking Toyota Mirai, which delivers best-in-class economy with zero emissions, is evidence of the company’s dedication to continuously improving this technology.

The innovative FCEV ensures drivers enjoy the same levels of performance and convenience associated with a traditionally-powered car by providing a class-leading cruising range of 650 km and allowing for quick refueling in under five minutes.

SÜBA AG deploys hydrogen generator on construction site in Vienna

On a construction site in Vienna, the first portable hydrogen-powered generator enters into service with no emissions.

The business TEST-FUCHS created a cutting-edge energy solution for the construction sector, and they successfully tested it with SÜBA AG, a 100% subsidiary of HALLMANN Holding.

CO2 emissions from building construction account for a sizeable component of a property’s life cycle. SÜBA AG is working on its construction site in Vienna-Simmering in collaboration with the Austrian company TEST-FUCHS introduced a hydrogen-powered generator for power generation for the first time – the H2Genset – in an effort to significantly reduce the CO2 footprint during construction work and thereby protect the environment.

155 rental flats are now being developed on the site in accordance with the strictest sustainability standards; they are anticipated to be finished in the third quarter of 2023 and will be DGNB Standard Gold certified. After a successful pilot project, SÜBA, which has its headquarters in Munich since 2020, will employ the H2Genset on its German building sites.

Bolivian studies on green hydrogen experience setback

The second request for studies on green hydrogen has been ruled null and void by Bolivia’s state-owned power provider Ende.

The November-launched procedure was unsuccessful because the two bidders’ offers, Ghenova Ingeniera and Tecnatom, could not meet technical specifications, according to procurement data.

For the initial process, there were no bids filed for the 120-day contract.

The consulting work will aid in the creation of a green hydrogen pilot project at Ende Guaracachi’s 5 MW Cobija solar park.

The Baha Thermal Plant in Cobija, the departmental seat of Pando in the northwest of the nation, would employ the alternative fuel.

Ricardo to train Anglo American’ personnel on hydrogen and battery safety training

Ricardo will train personnel at Anglo American’s Mogalakwena PGMs mine in South Africa on hydrogen and lithium-ion battery awareness, safety, and incident response as the firm works to create a fully integrated green hydrogen ecosystem to reach carbon neutrality by 2040.

Anglo American has hired Ricardo to train operating employees and firefighters in South Africa and remotely on hydrogen, fuel cell, and lithium-ion battery knowledge, safety, and incident response. This training, part of Anglo American’s Smart Power Project health and safety protocols, will prepare these important employees to safely support hydrogen infrastructure and respond to genuine incidents.

Anglo American showcased a prototype of the world’s largest hydrogen-powered mine haul truck for its Mogalakwena mine in May 2022. The 2MW hydrogen-battery hybrid truck is part of Anglo American’s nuGen Zero Emission Haulage Solution (ZEHS), which delivers a fully integrated green hydrogen generation, fuelling, and haulage system at the mine site. FutureSmart Mining, Anglo American’s innovation-driven sustainable mining strategy, includes nuGen.

RIL to replace switch gray hydrogen with green, Jefferies says

Foreign stockbroker Jefferies, which has a base case objective of Rs 3,100 on Reliance Industries (RIL), said EU and India’s 2030 green hydrogen (H2) targets translate into a $74 billion total addressable market (TAM) for RIL’s electrolyzer manufacturing sector.

According to a forecast by Jefferies, RIL will switch gray H2 at its refineries for green H2, and it might make money off the captive green H2 output by putting it in an InvIT and bringing in investors. With regard to the stock, Jefferies has set bull case targets of Rs 3,500 and bear case targets of Rs 2,200.

The foreign brokerage added the cap value of RIL’s captive H2 usage and valued the company’s electrolyzer manufacturing operations at a 20% discount to the European benchmark.

The firm has set a base case target price of Rs 3,100 for the company and a downside price objective of Rs 2,200 for RIL. In the basic case, Ebitda CAGRs for Jio over the next two years are projected to be 24 percent, retail over the next two years to be 35 percent, refining over the next two years to be 11 percent, and petchem over the next two years to be 4 percent.

ReNew Power India explores green hydrogen development in Egypt

According to Sumant Sinha, the CEO of ReNew Power India, the company is exploring chances to diversify into green hydrogen in Egypt, India, and other nations.

Currently, ReNew Power is researching the possibilities for green hydrogen, particularly in Egypt. The green hydrogen would be transported by the Suez canal from the facility, which would be located around 200 km south of Cairo. A final investment choice must be made no later than 18 months after the agreement is signed.

India is one of the world’s top emitters of greenhouse gases, according to government statistics. By 2030, it plans to expand the amount of renewable energy it produces from the 120 GW it has today to 500 GW. ReNew Power is also interested in taking part in India’s ambition to produce 5 million tonnes of renewable hydrogen by 2030.
