NewHydrogen moves forward with development of its green hydrogen generator

NewHydrogen, the creator of a ground-breaking green hydrogen generator that harnesses water and renewable energy to generate affordable green hydrogen, provided an update on the status of the creation of its prototype. The revolutionary low-cost and high-performance catalyst technology of the Company has been evaluated using the results of the prototype benchmarking phase, which has now been completed.

Using a five-layer membrane electrode assembly (MEA) stack embedded with commercial platinum and iridium-based catalysts, a systematic acidic water splitting test was carried out to determine the benchmark performance of the present commercial catalysts. The performance of the prototype nearly matched the promised performance associated with the commercial catalysts typically used in commercially available electrolyzers, according to the bench marking test.

The transition of activity into an electrolytic cell, an assessment of long-term stability, the rate of hydrogen production, the specific energy consumption, and the predicted overall costs of the Company’s new catalysts are all part of the current performance evaluation phase.


SoCalGas awards largest funding to HYSKY Society for hydrogen aviation event

SoCalGas has given HYSKY Society, a charity devoted to promoting hydrogen aviation, a gift that will change the game.

The largest funding in the HYSKY Society’s history will assist its signature event, FLYING HY, which is the biggest hydrogen aviation event in the world.

On June 21–23, 2023, FLYING HY will bring together specialists, researchers, and business executives from all over the world to talk about the most recent developments in hydrogen aviation. Keynote addresses, roundtable talks, and collaboration between the aviation sector and hydrogen experts will all be part of the event. NACFE and RMI provide new guidance report on hydrogen fuel cells for trucks

A new guidance report titled Hydrogen Trucks: Long Haul’s Future? was published in Indiana by the North American Council for Freight Efficiency (NACFE) and RMI.

The employment of hydrogen-based powertrains for heavy-duty Class 8 long-haul freight routes carrying van trailers is the main topic of the report. These powertrains include a variety of internal combustion engines (ICE) based on the diesel cycle and fuel cell battery electric kinds.

This research is based on two earlier NACFE reports that assessed a variety of alternative fuel heavy-duty truck technologies, including hydrogen: Viable Class 7/8 Electric, Hybrid and Alternative Fuel Tractors and Making Sense of Heavy-Duty Hydrogen Fuel Cell Tractors.


Liebherr tests new technologies for hydrogen aircraft

A fuel cell air supply system is being developed by Liebherr-Aerospace for the hydrogen demonstrators being used by Airbus. A working 1 MW air supply system demonstrator was constructed and supplied by Liebherr-Aerospace at the conclusion of the first study phase. This system is currently being evaluated in the Airbus test facilities.

The current study’s second phase aims to design and qualify an air supply demonstrator in an operational setting near the propulsion system that complies with flight safety standards and is tailored to integration restrictions. The performance of a fuel cell propulsion system under operating settings should be validated by 2025 thanks in large part to a flying test programme that will centre on this demonstration.


New Mexico could get large federal hydrogen grant

One of the states that might get a sizable federal funding to build an infrastructure to generate and distribute hydrogen energy is New Mexico.

In order to advance the hydrogen economies in New Mexico, Colorado, Utah, and Wyoming, The Western Interstate Hydrogen Hub LLC, or WIH2, has submitted a grant application for a $1.25 billion grant from the U.S. Energy Department.

WIH2 aims to contribute to the agency’s initiative to build infrastructure-based hydrogen economies throughout the United States. Eight initiatives have been recognised by WIH2 across the four states, with at least one project in each.


MachH2 seeks to establish hydrogen hub in Midwest

A request for a regional clean hydrogen hub to be established in the Midwest has been made by the Midwest Alliance for Clean Hydrogen (MachH2).

If accepted, the U.S. Department of Energy application would launch the process of creating a clean hydrogen distribution and production hub in the region. More than 60 public and private organisations, including governors Whitmer of Michigan, Holcomb of Indiana, and Pritzker of Illinois, supported the application on a bipartisan basis.

Hydrogen is a crucial resource for achieving the nation’s objective of net zero carbon emissions by 2050 when produced with sustainable energy.


KEA and H2KOREA enter cooperation agreement

At the Electronics Center in Sangam-dong, Seoul, the Hydrogen Convergence Alliance and the Korea Electronics Information and Communication Industry Promotion Association inked a “Hydrogen and Digital Industry Win-Win Collaboration Business Agreement.”

The agreement was designed to pioneer the worldwide market, set the framework for enhancing industrial competitiveness, and create new technologies and industries by merging the electronics/IT and hydrogen industries.
