Rhineland-Palatinate and Saarland partner on hydrogen

Together, Rhineland-Palatinate and Saarland want to advance the hydrogen market. A combined cabinet meeting will thus focus on the crucial technology for the industry’s shift toward carbon neutrality on Tuesday (11 a.m.) in Brussels. In conversations with members of the EU Commission and at a gathering with businesspeople, the prime ministers of Rhineland-Palatinate and Saarland, Malu Dreyer and Anke Rehlinger, also seek to establish a leadership role for the two nations when it comes to hydrogen.

When moving to climate-neutral manufacturing, both federal states have significant industrial sectors that rely predominantly on hydrogen. Saarland is known for its steel and automobile sectors, while Rhineland-Palatinate is known for its chemical and automobile manufacturing.


Sarawak to benefit from Putrajaya’s AP allowing to import EVs and FCEVs

With Putrajaya’s agreement to provide an Approved Permit (AP), which enables the state to import electric vehicles (EVs) and hydrogen fuel cell electric vehicles (FCEVs) with tax exemptions, Sarawak’s green energy environment will receive a further boost.

After meeting the federal cabinet and Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim in Kuching last week, Sarawak Premier Tan Sri Abang Johari Openg stated that these are the first incentives provided to Sarawak by the federal government, according to Daily Express.

Under these initiatives, 1,000 EVs and FCEVs will be brought into Sarawak. Although the state government has ordered 38 Autonomous Rail Transit (ART) FCEVs, as was reported by the media earlier this month, the specifics of the stated vehicles have not yet been made public.

Plans to build two new hydrogen plants in Bintulu Petchem Industrial Park by 2027 under projects known as H2biscus and H2ornbill are recent advances on the state’s hydrogen economy front.


Cummins’ Accelera premieres on the European bus market at Busworld Europe 2023

At Busworld Europe 2023 in Brussels, Cummins’ Accelera will make its premiere on the European bus market.

A wide range of complementary technologies, such as batteries, hydrogen fuel cells, and fully integrated zero-emission powertrains, are included in the Accelera systems.

The supplier claims that the BP95E battery, which has one of the highest energy densities currently available, will be introduced at Busworld to accompany the debut of Accelera in May (which builds on the capabilities of Siemens and Meritor, both of which were acquired by Cummins).


NewHydrogen CEO discusses world’s cheapest renewable H2 generation with Stanford University energy expert

In a recent podcast, Dr. Naomi Boness, Managing Director of the Natural Gas Initiative (NGI), and CEO of the green hydrogen fuel technology developer NewHydrogen Inc., Steve Hill, focused on the least expensive H2 production in the world.

As the globe attempts to decarbonize, Dr. Boness focused on the growing interest in using hydrogen fuel as an alternative energy source. She mentioned that during the following several decades, H2 is anticipated to account for about 18% of all energy use. H2 is frequently viewed as a safe, inexpensive, and clean alternative to the need to move away from polluting fossil fuels as energy costs rise and climate change concerns persist.

Boness emphasized the areas of use for H2 that are seen to be the most promising, including transportation and heavy industries like steel, glass, gas, and medicines.


Impact Coatings introduces premium fuel cell coating

Impact Coatings has introduced a premium fuel cell (FC) coating for heavy-duty applications that is the next generation. In LT-PEM FC stacks, the new premium FC coating provides improved characteristics and protection for anode and cathode metal plates. The company’s Coating Service Center in China currently offers the coating as job coating.

The previous few decades have seen a growing amount of attention paid to alternatives to fossil fuel-based powertrains. OEMs are becoming more interested in fuel cell-powered electric vehicles that convert hydrogen into energy, particularly for long distances and heavy-duty applications. The Low Temperature Proton-Exchange Membrane or Polymer Electrolyte Membrane (LT-PEM) based fuel cell system is the most widely used technology in this industry.


Teledyne unveils upgraded hydrogen detector

The upgraded Gasurveyor 700 (GS700) gas detector, which integrates hydrogen and natural gas detection into a single device, has been released by Teledyne.

The portable GS700-Hydrogen gadget intends to make gas detection simpler in a variety of applications, including pipeline gas testing, purging, barholing, and outdoor and interior leak detection.

Teledyne claims that field tests coordinated with the hydrogen transition initiatives of eminent UK utility companies SGN and Northern Gas Networks assisted the development of its ATEX-certified instrument.
