The South Marmara Development Agency (GMKA), Eti Maden and Enerjisa Üretim co-financed the “South Marmara Hydrogen Coast Platform” Guided Project.
After receiving an 8-million-euro Horizon European Framework Program funding, the “South Marmara Hydrogen Coast” Valley Project will boost the Valley’s and region’s hydrogen economy.
Project applicant Eti Maden Operations General Directorate; The project, which includes Enerjisa Enerji Üretim A.Ş., Offshore Wind Energy Association, Bandırma Onyedi Eylül University, and Sabancı University, would build Turkey’s first green hydrogen plant with the greatest capacity in Bandırma Energy Base. After this pilot project, Turkey’s first MW-scale electrolyzer will be developed.

The 24-month project will reveal two crucial feasibility assessments. The feasibility study of the “South Marmara Green Industrial Zone” on the Bandırma-Biga line will help the sector develop cleanly and plannedly.
South Marmara, which hopes to be Turkey’s education center, was introduced to the “Green Sea” after the Renewable Youth Energy (Re-YOU Operation) with the IPA money and the Renewable Energy Training Centers at Balıkesir University and Çanakkale Onsekiz Mart University. The “South Marmara Hydrogen Coast Platform” project, which will be implemented with the highest co-financing rate among guided initiatives sponsored by the Development Agencies, will set an example for Turkey’s first renewable energy park, the Bandırma Energy Base, with its industrial-scale applications. Larger studies are expected. This journey to Turkey’s first hydrogen manufacturing and distribution center will have taken another critical step. The “South Marmara Hydrogen Coast Platform” is the most important industry project to reach net-zero greenhouse gas emissions in 2053.
The establishment of Turkey’s first green industrial zone in the Southern Marmara from scratch and new industrial zones to obtain high-value goods from the Boron mineral, which will become more essential in the green transformation process, will increase synergy in this area.
