According to Al Borsa News, the Abu Dhabi-based Al Nowais Group has made a proposal to the Egyptian Ministry of Electricity to unite its 500-megawatt solar power projects with the hydrogen projects planned by the Abu Dhabi Investment Fund (ADIA) in Egypt.
According to the sources, a committee has been created to evaluate the idea and report the findings to the Cabinet within a month.
The ADIA will be a partner in the hydrogen projects to be executed for ammonia production, according to the plan, the sources noted.
They said that if the plan is granted, the amalgamated projects will have a capacity of 100 megawatts, rather than 500 megawatts, and will be able to be built in two phases with a total capacity of 200 megawatts.
Due to the Covid-19 epidemic and higher component and shipping prices, the Emirati company had already postponed the project’s completion.
