UK energy developer Carlton Power is partnering with mining companies Imerys and Sibelco to supply hydrogen from its Langage Green Hydrogen project.

The 10 MW project is located near Plymouth, Devon and could start construction by the end of the year, with operations set to commence in 2025, subject to final agreements with the UK government and a financial investment decision. The mining companies, which are both located within five miles of the project site, will receive hydrogen via an underground pipeline. Carlton Power hopes to increase the project’s capacity to allow more companies in industry, manufacturing, and transport to decarbonize their operations.

The Langage Green Hydrogen project aims to produce green hydrogen using electrolysis, which splits water into hydrogen and oxygen using renewable energy sources. The hydrogen will then be compressed and transported via pipelines to end users. By supplying green hydrogen to mining companies, Carlton Power is helping them to reduce their carbon emissions and achieve their net-zero goals.

Green hydrogen is a clean and sustainable energy source that is gaining popularity as countries around the world seek to reduce their carbon emissions and transition to a low-carbon economy. Hydrogen has the potential to play a key role in decarbonizing heavy industries such as steel, cement, and chemicals, as well as transportation, heating, and power generation. Green hydrogen is produced using renewable energy sources such as wind, solar, and hydroelectric power, and emits no carbon dioxide during production or use.

The Langage Green Hydrogen project is an important step towards the decarbonization of the UK economy and the achievement of the country’s net-zero goals. The UK government has set a target of reaching net-zero carbon emissions by 2050, and green hydrogen is expected to play a key role in achieving this goal. The project has the potential to support the growth of the green hydrogen industry in the UK and create jobs in the energy sector.

In conclusion, the partnership between Carlton Power and Imerys and Sibelco to supply green hydrogen from the Langage Green Hydrogen project to mining companies is a significant development in the decarbonization of the UK economy. By providing a clean and sustainable energy source, Carlton Power is helping these companies to reduce their carbon emissions and achieve their net-zero goals. The project has the potential to support the growth of the green hydrogen industry in the UK and create jobs in the energy sector.
