It has been requested that the UK government make a strategic choice to support the integration of hydrogen into the petrol network by 2023.
The UK Hydrogen Champion has called for more clarity on impending policy decisions, financing availability, and overall delivery of the hydrogen plan to 2030 and beyond in publishing the eagerly awaited report.
The Secretary of State will receive recommendations from the Hydrogen Champion on how to speed up investment in the hydrogen economy from this independent expert advisor. The Hydrogen Champion will interact with investors and industry stakeholders to determine what obstacles and opportunities exist for funding hydrogen projects.
In order to support the EU’s vision for hydrogen road transportation, the report’s author implores the government to offer early clarity on hydrogen heating for houses, encourage the construction of hydrogen refuelling stations, and purchase hydrogen heavy-duty vehicles (HGVs).
The suggestions in the paper are crucial for providing clarity on policy decisions, finance, and the delivery of the hydrogen roadmap, according to Frank Gordon, Director of Policy at the REA (Association for Renewable Energy and Clean Technologies).
Gordon also commended the report’s recommendations for removing investment roadblocks, giving investors a clear vision, and boosting the demand for hydrogen in blending, heating, and transportation.
