VINSSEN under the leadership of CEO Lee Chil-Han, has been awarded the Approval in Principle (AIP) Certification for its in-house developed 100kW Marine Fuel Cell Module by the Korean Register, a reputable authority in the field. This certification marks the first step in a comprehensive four-stage evaluation process for novel technologies.

VINSSEN’s journey towards sustainable maritime solutions began earlier with the approval of its Marine Lithium-Ion Battery System by the Korean Register and Korea Maritime Transportation Safety Authority (KOMSA) in 2023. Now, with the AIP Certification for its 100kW Marine Fuel Cell Module, VINSSEN is demonstrating a commitment to pioneering green propulsion systems for the marine industry.

The 100kW Marine Fuel Cell Module is a sophisticated integration of a Fuel Cell Stack and Balance of Plant (BOP). It encompasses critical components such as a Hydrogen Supply Device, Air Supply Device, and Cooling Device, among others. This integrated system serves a dual purpose, powering both the vessel’s propulsion system and various auxiliary devices on board. What sets VINSSEN’s Fuel Cell Module apart is its use of Proton Exchange Membrane Fuel Cell (PEMFC) technology, which offers distinct advantages, especially when deployed on smaller vessels.

In a visionary move, VINSSEN is preparing to embark on the “Hydrogen Fuel Cell Based Leisure Vessel Construction, Verification, and Mobile Charging Facility Development Project.” This ambitious project involves the incorporation of two 100kW Fuel Cell Modules on a leisure vessel, with construction and verification testing slated for 2024.

Support from Jeollanam-do Province and Yeongam has been instrumental in making this project a reality. VINSSEN aims to construct Hydrogen Fuel Cell Leisure Vessels within a secure demonstration environment. To facilitate this, the company plans to utilize a shipyard near the Daebool National Industrial Complex while also establishing and operating a mobile hydrogen charging station equipped with advanced monitoring technology.
