In the face of rising gas costs, European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen said that the EU should take steps to lower the cost of green hydrogen.

She said this energy resource “is beginning to seem competitive from an economic standpoint” during the European Hydrocarbon Week.

“We’re all experiencing rising gas costs right now.” And, under such circumstances, “green” hydrogen can be even cheaper than “gray” hydrogen (made from fossil fuels – IF),” noted von der Leyen.

“By 2030, our objective should be to get the price below 1.8 euros per kilogram.” “And this is a very serious job,” the European Commission’s president believes. She went on to say that the EU should be a world leader in the usage of hydrogen energy.
