Eni tender for a mini-electrolyser in Viggiano

Eni has published a tender for 1 million euros for the supply of a solid oxide electrolyzer (SOEC) of at least 5 kg of hydrogen per hour to be built in Viggiano (PZ), as part of a project called IPEReGas for the production of synthetic methane using part of the CO2 produced by the Centro Oli della Val D’Agri. 


Alstom’s First Hydrogen-Powered Coradia Stream Nearing Completion

Alstom and Ingegneria Italia recently unveiled a video detailing the construction progress of the new Coradia Stream regional trains, set to revolutionize rail travel in Italy. Train number 001 is currently undergoing mechanical tests, while the fully assembled train number 003, complete with livery, is scheduled for exhibition at the upcoming EXPO Ferroviaria in Milan in early October. Train number 002 is expected to embark on dynamic tests abroad in the coming months. These trains, designed for FNM S.p.A., will operate on the Brescia – Iseo – Edolo line, replacing diesel-powered trains with environmentally friendly hydrogen technology. Alstom’s Italian facilities in Savigliano, Vado Ligure, Sesto San Giovanni, and Bologna play pivotal roles in the production, assembly, and development of these innovative trains.


Corvus Energy Selected for Groundbreaking Hydrogen-Powered RTG Crane

Corvus Energy, a leader in marine energy storage solutions, is set to supply the battery energy storage system for a groundbreaking project in partnership with TYCROP and H2 Portable. This initiative, part of the Low-Emission Technology Initiative supported by the Vancouver Fraser Port Authority and the Province of British Columbia, will retrofit a hydrogen fuel cell RTG crane in 2024, making it the first of its kind in the Americas. The innovative crane will employ both a hydrogen fuel cell system and Corvus’s battery energy storage system (ESS) to reduce emissions, fuel costs, and operational noise. Corvus’s 124 kWh Orca ESS is set to play a crucial role in enhancing energy efficiency by recycling regenerative energy during crane lowering operations. This development marks a significant stride towards sustainable port and maritime operations, aligning with DP World’s efforts to achieve carbon neutrality by 2040.
