Amazon Filters get certification for its supply work related to hydrogen

One of the first producers to be given “Fit for” accreditation under a new standards program for the hydrogen production and carbon capture industries is Amazon Filters, a manufacturer of process filters.

Fit for Hydrogen (F4H2) and Fit for Carbon Capture, Usage and Storage (F4CCUS) programs have seen the Surrey-based company pass a number of evaluations, audits, and surveys. The company supplies mission-critical filtration systems in the UK and globally.

Obtaining “granted” status for both standards enhances the company’s appeal to clients engaged in national, international, and regional engineering projects with a decarbonization focus.

Bürkert launches hydrogen fuel cell solenoid valves

New Type 6020 proportional control valves and Type 6440 safety shut-off valves from Bürkert are now available. Both valves are ready-made for the decarbonization of stationary power, automotive, and transportation sectors, and are specialized for use with hydrogen.

Customers of Bürkert have long had the option to request customized valves for hydrogen, but the new Type 6440 and 6020 simplify procurement by including all necessary specializations in standardized items. Highlights include a larger operating pressure range, a lower leak rate, and a body made of 316 stainless steel to prevent hydrogen embrittlement.

Nel plans to spin off and list the hydrogen fueling company separately

In 2024, Nel plans to investigate the possibility of spinning out and listing its hydrogen fueling division separately.

With their shares listed on an OSE-regulated market, all current Nel shareholders would receive a dividend-in-kind from the dedicated fuelling company.

CEO of Nel, Håkon Volldal, stated that the company has observed “limited synergies” between the electrolyser and fueling divisions and feels that each company will be in a better position to become “market leaders” if it operates independently.

On the eve of its 2023 financial results, Nel revealed that its fuelling revenues had dropped by 6% while its electrolyser revenues had increased by 40% in Q4 2023. The company recorded revenue and profits of NOK 1,773m ($167m), up from NOK 994m ($93.8m) in 2022.

API urges Biden Administration to include blue hydrogen

The Biden Administration has been urged by the American Petroleum Institute (API) to include in its 45V regulations recognition of blue hydrogen production as well as other forms of hydrogen production as catalysts for a low-carbon future.

API criticized the draft regulation’s near-exclusive focus on hydrogen produced using electricity generated from entirely renewable energy sources, or “green hydrogen,” in comments submitted to the Department of Treasury and Internal Revenue Service (IRS) regarding the Section 45V tax credit on clean hydrogen production.

NSW govt buys battery-electric vehicle from Pure Hydrogen

The NSW government has purchased an additional battery-electric vehicle from Pure Hydrogen, and the company has successfully entered the North American market for hydrogen fuel cell electric heavy vehicles.

Wilba Transport, located in Bourke, New South Wales, has issued a legally binding purchase order to the company’s majority-owned subsidiary, Hdrive International, for the delivery of a battery-electric EV70 minibus (see picture).

The NSW government placed the order, which comes after a prior order for two 18-seat battery-electric minibuses from north coast company Sapphire Coast Buslines, as part of its ambition for on-demand transport services in remote NSW.
