UKOG gets Sumitomo funding for hydrogen projects
UK Oil & Gas PLC is ready to move on with its hydrogen storage projects in Yorkshire and Dorset after obtaining a letter of support from SEEL, a subsidiary of Sumitomo Corporation. For UKOG to be eligible for the next round of the government-sponsored Hydrogen Storage Revenue Support Allocation Round, this endorsement is essential. Although the projects are still in the early stages of design, UKOG is hopeful that they will gain additional support and be able to play a significant part in the energy infrastructure of the United Kingdom.
Liebherr mining tractor runs on hydrogen for the first time
The first-ever hydrogen-powered Liebherr T 264 mining truck has achieved a significant milestone by running on hydrogen. Hydrogen fuel cells are used in the prototype, which was created in collaboration with Fortescue, to provide an emission-free option.
The vehicle, called “Europa,” has 500 kW of fuel cells and a 1.6 MWh battery. Additionally, it can hold over 380 kg of liquid hydrogen in storage. For Liebherr and Fortescue, the maiden operation marks a significant advancement toward their goals of zero emissions.
