Wolftank Group has been awarded a contract worth EUR 9.5 million from TPER, the public transport provider in Italy’s Emilia Romagna region. The Supervisory Board confirmed the contract on 28th June, marking Wolftank Group’s most substantial order in the hydrogen sector to date.
Earlier this year, TPER selected Wolftank Group as its operational-industrial partner, acknowledging the company’s decades of expertise in the energy sector. The first phase of this partnership will witness the construction of integrated hydrogen refueling systems for buses at four locations across Emilia Romagna. These installations are projected to be completed by the end of 2024, with the overall contract volume potentially reaching EUR 30 million by 2026.
Wolftank Group’s CEO, Peter Werth, voiced his optimism about the company’s entry into the hydrogen domain, remarking, “The past months have shown enormous customer interest in our hydrogen solutions, which is currently reflected in a large offer pipeline. This first contract from TPER confirms our positioning as a high-performance partner.”
The positive reception of Wolftank Group’s hydrogen solutions demonstrates the growing recognition of hydrogen as a sustainable alternative for powering public transportation. As cities worldwide strive to reduce their carbon footprints, clean energy solutions like hydrogen are emerging as viable, environmentally-friendly options for powering large-scale public transportation.
The choice of Wolftank Group by TPER indicates the transportation provider’s commitment to innovation and sustainability, with hydrogen-powered buses significantly reducing CO2 emissions in comparison to traditional diesel-powered counterparts.
The success of this first phase could potentially pave the way for the more widespread implementation of hydrogen refueling systems across Italy and Europe. It is a move that could significantly impact the transportation industry, setting a precedent for other regions and transport providers to follow suit.
As Wolftank Group steps up to deliver on this high-profile contract, the industry and stakeholders keenly await the roll-out. This partnership could serve as a blueprint for future collaborations, where engineering prowess meets environmental stewardship, driving the world closer to a sustainable future.
