Air Liquide Engineering and Construction has been given the contract to supply the liquefaction equipment for Woodside’s envisioned H2OK hydrogen project in Ardmore, Oklahoma.

Two 30 t/d liquefaction plants, which will liquefy hydrogen produced through electrolysis in preparation for storage, loading, and delivery to consumers, will be built and engineered by Air Liquide.

In 2023, Woodside plans to make a final investment decision about H2OK, pending receipt of all required approvals and the conclusion of all essential commercial agreements.

For the H2OK project, an initial 290 MW facility will be built. This facility will use electrolysis to create up to 90 t/d of liquid hydrogen for the heavy transportation industry. The Ardmore location has the ability to expand up to 550 MW and 180 t/d.

The selection of Nel Hydrogen Electrolyser, a division of Nel ASA, by Woodside to design and develop alkaline electrolyser equipment for H2OK, was followed by the awarding of the contract for liquefaction equipment.

In addition to H2OK, Woodside is working on the H2Perth and H2TAS hydrogen projects that have been proposed for Australia. Woodside was also recently designated the preferred partner to advance to the development stage of the Southern Green Hydrogen project that has been proposed for New Zealand.
