YTL PowerSeraya Pte. Limited has emerged as the victor of the first Request for Proposal (RFP) under the Energy Market Authority’s (EMA) new Centralised Process framework.

The company, a subsidiary of YTL Power International Berhad, is set to construct a hydrogen-ready Combined Cycle Gas Turbine (CCGT) at its Pulau Seraya Power Station site.

The initiative, estimated to cost SGD 800 million, aims to develop a 600 MW hydrogen-ready CCGT by December 31, 2027. This project aligns with Singapore’s strategic vision to diversify its power mix, integrating hydrogen alongside solar and other low-carbon energy sources. YTL PowerSeraya’s CCGT will not only bolster the nation’s generation capacity but also pave the way for future hydrogen utilization.

John Ng, CEO of YTL PowerSeraya, emphasized the company’s commitment to leveraging cutting-edge technology and sustainable practices to contribute to Singapore’s energy security and environmental goals. The hydrogen-ready nature of the CCGT, with at least 30% volume preparedness for hydrogen, underscores its role in emissions reduction. As Singapore aims for net-zero emissions by 2050 under the Singapore Green Plan, this project marks a significant step towards achieving long-term sustainability goals.

As Singapore positions itself as a global leader in sustainable energy, YTL PowerSeraya’s hydrogen-ready CCGT sets a precedent for future developments in the region. By embracing innovative solutions and fostering public-private partnerships, Singapore aims to establish a resilient and environmentally conscious energy infrastructure.
