Beijing’s public transportation system will receive 100 Yutong hydrogen buses.
On December 20, 2021, 30 fuel cell bus units will be delivered. On the same day, in Zhengzhou, Henan Province, where Yutong is headquartered, the “Batch Delivery and Strategic Cooperation Signing Ceremony for Yutong Group State Power Investment Corporation Fuel Cell Products” was conducted.
Yutong began developing fuel cell buses in 2009 and has since completed the third generation of fuel cell buses and is currently working on the fourth generation of fuel cell city buses. Yutong claims that its fuel cell buses have logged more than 27.3 million kilometers in service to date.
The Beijing-bound fuel cell buses are all 11 meters high with 46 seats. According to Yutong, the vehicles are fitted with airbags, luxury seats, and ultra-low temperature heat pump heating and cooling A/C, making them extremely comfortable to ride.
These vehicles were fuelled with hydrogen in Zhengzhou on the day of delivery and then driven 800 kilometers to Yanqing, Beijing. These vehicles will likely be pushed in the future as shuttle and tourism buses in Beijing, as well as Beijing-Tianjin-Hebei and other places, Yutong adds.
