Nikola Corporation and TA-Petro have agreed to work together to construct hydrogen fueling stations for heavy-duty trucks at two existing TA-Petro locations.
This partnership is the first phase in the parties’ joint establishment of a national hydrogen fueling station network. The collaboration is conditional on the parties agreeing to negotiate and execute conclusive documentation.
The first two stations will be built at existing TA-Petro locations in California, with commercial operations expected in Q1 2023. These stations are expected to hasten the introduction of commercial hydrogen fuel-cell electric vehicles.
The launch stations, when combined with the previously announced Nikola Tre fuel-cell electric vehicle’s planned 500-mile range, will allow zero-emission heavy-duty commercial vehicle operations in and around the greater Los Angeles area, as well as north through California’s Central Valley.
Nikola and TA-Petro are considering developing two hydrogen fueling stations that will include an open fueling network that will be accessible to any truck customer and will adhere to a common industry standard for heavy-duty fueling protocols, ensuring compatibility across all hydrogen fuel-cell truck manufacturers.
