Symbio presents multi-stack system at Auto Shanghai

Hydrogen is Crucial in Reducing Carbon Emissions from Goods Transport.

Heavy-duty trucks are a priority for Symbio, in addition to the solutions it has already released for light goods vehicles and buses. Because of the heavy loads they carry and the long distances they must travel, hydrogen is an essential part of their energy transition.

By 2030, hydrogen trucks are projected to account for a third of the European1 and Chinese truck markets. Symbio is showcasing a multi-stack device for the first time at Auto Shanghai 2021, backed by its expertise – the vehicles it has fitted out have logged more than 4,000,000 kilometers.

For heavy-duty trucks, an Optimised Modular System has been created. Symbio’s multi-stack design is available in 150 kW, 225 kW (3 x 75 kW), and 300 kW (2 x 150 kW) models and suits all truck formats, including 44-tonnes. Due to numerous functions being optimized, such as low pressure and losses, managed hydrogen recirculation, and operating temperatures consistent with heavy-duty truck cooling requirements, it provides the best possible balance between efficiency and durability. Because of a specific redesign of the bipolar plates and simplified fluidic circuits, the device is especially appealing for use in heavy-duty trucks due to its compact size.

Symbio’s product launch reaffirms its product strategy’s relevance to consumer needs, especially in China, as well as its mastery of all things high-powered, as evidenced by its fitout of the LMPH2G racing car that will compete in the Le Mans 24-hour race in 2024. The extension of Symbio’s product line follows the company’s announcements of collaboration agreements with Stellantis for light goods vehicles and Safra for buses.
