Namibia and Germany have reached an agreement on a hydrogen partnership.
According to the Federal Research Ministry, Anja Karliczek (CDU) and Obeth Kandjoze, Director General of the Namibian Planning Commission, signed a joint declaration of purpose in Windhoek and Berlin.

According to their statements, the Ministry of Research will contribute up to 40 million euros in funding for cooperation within the framework of this partnership from the economic and future package. Namibia has a lot of promise when it comes to developing a green hydrogen economy: Large, previously undeveloped lands exist throughout the country. With over 3,500 hours of sunshine each year, about twice as much as Germany, the potential for solar electricity is much larger.
As a result, one kilo of hydrogen from Namibia is expected to cost between 1.50 and 2 euros in the long run. According to the National Hydrogen Council, German industry without refineries will require 1.7 million tons of hydrogen per year by 2030, and that demand will continue to rise thereafter.
