MWM will introduce commercially available power production solutions ranging in size from 400 kW to 4.5 MW and capable of operating on natural gas combined with up to 25% hydrogen.

MWM will begin a phased rollout of commercially accessible MWM generator sets optimized for continuous, prime, and load management operation on natural gas combined with up to 25% hydrogen. The deal is valid for the TCG 3016, TCG 3020, TCG 2032, and TCG 2032B series.

Additionally, the business will sell conversion kits for select generator sets developed on these engine platforms that enable hydrogen mixing up to 25% hydrogen. In the fourth quarter of 2022, a phased rollout of new natural gas generating sets and retrofit kits capable of producing 25% hydrogen will commence.

MWM gas engines are already capable of operating with hydrogen mixes of up to 10% and are well-suited for decentralized energy generation due to their high efficiency.

MWM generators have long been pioneers in the use of alternate forms of gas for power generation. The generator sets are adaptable to a variety of biogas fuels, including digestor biogas, landfill gas, and wastewater biogas.

Experimentation with hydrogen contents of up to 60%

MWM has experience utilizing hydrogen in a variety of end markets and nations, with some projects operating for 23 years. MWM continues to enhance the performance of hydrogen-fueled power generating sets while minimizing the impact on maintenance costs and schedules, as well as availability and operation. MWM has accumulated substantial expertise throughout this time period through its product portfolio, which includes customer projects and hydrogen-rich fuels with a hydrogen concentration of up to 60%.

Hydrogen blended solutions are being developed and launched to meet growing consumer demand as the hydrogen supply infrastructure matures. MWM is committed to assisting clients in meeting their climate-related goals by developing solutions that aid in the fuel transition, improve operational efficiency, and reduce emissions.

Caterpillar Energy Solutions, with its two brands MWM and Cat, stands for highly efficient and environmentally friendly solutions for distributed power production. The company builds gas engines, electric power plants, and combined heat and power (CHP) facilities. Caterpillar Energy Solutions, a division of Caterpillar Electric Power, presently holds a leadership position in the field of highly efficient, environmentally friendly distributed energy solutions. Thus, we serve our customers worldwide as a dependable partner with a track record of delivering proven and sustained value in the implementation of power plant projects.
