Next week, Paul Mc Cormack, Belfast Met’s Innovation Manager and Program Manager for their EU renewable hydrogen project, ‘GenComm,’ will speak at an event aimed at developing a hydrogen roadmap in Slovenia and Austria.

Mr. McCormack will talk at the H2 Green TECH Policy Forum session ‘Strengthening Slovenian-Austrian Cross-Border Cooperation for the Development of Low Carbon Technologies’ on Wednesday, March 16, 2022.

The conference will identify national, regional, and local goals for hydrogen technology development and finance in Slovenia and Austria.

The Slovenian Ministry of Education, Science, and Sport, in collaboration with other H2 Green TECH partners, is hosting the Policy Forum.

‘Experiences and lessons acquired inside GenComm and other hydrogen-based technology initiatives,’ says Mr. McCormack.

A workshop titled “Opportunities for Joint Financing of Hydrogen Technology Research, Development, and Innovation” will be held. Andreas Dorda, Federal Ministry for Climate Action, Environment, Energy, Mobility, Innovation and Technology, Peter Raimann, Austrian Energy Agency, and Marko Hren, Government Office for Development and European Cohesion Policy Development and Management Decision, are among those who will participate (Slovenia).

On the day, Helene Chraye, European Commission Head of Unit, Clean Energy Transition, will speak about the European Commission’s hydrogen projects. On the ‘Agenda Process on Green Hydrogen,’ Alexander Meincke, Federal Ministry of Education and Research, Department European and International Cooperation (Germany), will talk.

Looking forward to the event Mr. McCormack said: “Our work in this sector has ensured that Northern Ireland is ahead of the hydrogen curve and is recognized for the innovative work currently underway. This event enables Belfast Met and NI Industry to create wider trans-European partnerships and also to strengthen our R&D position in the hydrogen economy. In working with our Slovenian and Austrian partners we are helping inform their national hydrogen roadmaps and ensuring that Northern Ireland is at the center of the emerging international hydrogen highway.”
