Aucorsa adds its first hydrogen-powered bus to its fleet

Caring for the environment is one of the reasons why citizens use the bus, to consume less energy and thus generate less CO2 into the atmosphere.

If we add to this the fact that the transports used are eco friendly, the benefit is absolute. More and more new gasoline variables are being used to drive a vehicle, such as modern electric buses. Well, Aucorsa has wanted to go one step further in environmental care.

The municipal public transport company of Cordoba, Aucorsa, has just bought and put out to tender its first bus powered by hydrogen, the so-called fuel of the future to revolutionize energy worldwide. The company already tested the operation and validity of a hydrogen vehicle at the end of last year. The tests were a success, and the company will finally incorporate a hydrogen bus into its fleet.

At present, most of the vehicles in Aucorsa’s fleet run on natural gas. However, the conflict occurred in Ukraine with Russia affects the whole world, so the natural gas bill of Aucorsa has skyrocketed, making them look for other ways to transport the people of Cordoba, and more if it can be an energy that does not emit any CO2 into the atmosphere, being finally the hydrogen vehicle the chosen one.

The Next Generation funds will largely finance the purchase of this vehicle, funds whose first items have already reached the City Council. 830,000 euros of tender has been the price to pay for a greater defense of the environment, in a profitable investment, at environmental level, but more expensive than that of a natural gas bus as the rest of the fleet of Aucorsa.

The noise levels and CO2 emissions of this vehicle are zero compared to conventional ones, since it works thanks to water vapor, giving a feeling of comfort and convenience similar to that of electric cars. However, its autonomy is superior to that of an electric one, as it can reach 400 kilometers without problems and its refueling time is comparable to that of a conventional bus, taking about 8 minutes.
