The Ministry of Ecological Transition has received over 90 project proposals in research and development on hydrogen for a total value that exceeds 240 million euros, almost 5 times the financial endowment made available by the NRP.
The data testify to the strong interest in developing research on green hydrogen, strategic for decarbonization, and fundamental in the changed geopolitical context to help achieve energy independence from Russia and accelerate the ecological transition, priority objectives reaffirmed by the European Commission with the plan REPowerEU.
The MiTe, in particular, received 39 fundamental research proposals in response to the tender addressed to research institutions and universities, with a request for 116 million euros compared to the 20 million made available by the PNRR.
The projects presented in this context aim at the acquisition of new theoretical and experimental knowledge on frontier issues ranging from the development of technologies for the production of green hydrogen to its transformation into derivatives and green fuels, from the development of fuel cells to storage systems. and transport of hydrogen.
For the tender aimed at companies, however, 56 industrial research projects were presented, for 126 million euros against a budget of 30 million euros. Research and development contracts will be awarded by the end of June 2022.
