Korea Gas Corporation announced the signing of a contract with CB&I Storage Solutions of the United States to develop liquid hydrogen storage facility technology at EXCO in Daegu.
President Chae Hee-bong visited the United States in March and met with specialists from CB&I and NASA to examine the state of liquid hydrogen storage technology and strategies to collaborate with Korea Gas Corporation.
The two firms agreed to collaborate in a variety of areas, including the expansion of liquid hydrogen onshore storage tanks and the development of liquid hydrogen transportation vessel technology, according to this agreement.
KOGAS wants to boost national competitiveness in the hydrogen market by developing key technologies for liquefied hydrogen storage and transportation, the most significant portion of the hydrogen value chain.
CB&I has been producing ultra-high pressure and cryogenic tanks with over 130 years of experience in the storage facility design, procurement, and construction (EPC) industry, and is set to build the world’s biggest liquid hydrogen storage tank (5000m3) at NASA’s Kennedy Space Center.
“A large-scale liquid hydrogen onshore storage tank and marine transport ship technology will be a crucial cornerstone for reaching carbon neutrality,” a KOGAS official stated.
