As part of the NRP, the State will provide 89 million euros to the Municipality of Palermo for the procurement of zero-emission city buses powered by electricity or hydrogen, as well as the development of corresponding power supply support infrastructures.
The sum is a portion of the two billion dollars given to 55 municipalities for the years 2022-2026. This is announced by Mayor Leoluca Orlando and Councilor for Mobility Giusto Catania.
By December 31, 2024, at least 33 minibusses will have been purchased, with a total fleet of at least 125 new vehicles by June 30, 2026. “This is further proof of the local administration’s strategic decision to safeguard the environment and to continue the road toward sustainable mobility, which is now irreversible,” Orlando added.
Thanks to the municipal administration’s planning capabilities, the Amat bus fleet has been totally renewed in recent years, according to Catania. This further achievement completes a route of public transportation and sustainable mobility innovation.
