Enercon has won the Credit Suisse Energy Infrastructure Partners (CSEIP) as majority shareholder for the northern part of the major Swedish wind energy project Markbygden Phase II.
The Swiss investors will acquire up to 85 percent of the shares in the onshore wind farm in the municipality of Piteå in the northern Swedish province of Norrbotten.
In the project with a nominal output of 252.7 MW, Enercon is installing 63 Enercon E-138 EP3 wind turbines. Enercon itself will remain a long-term shareholder with a minority stake, thereby underlining its long-term strategic interest in Sweden as a wind energy location.
Enercon is the sole owner of the MB Etapp II cluster. MB Etapp II consists of a northern part with 63 x E-138 EP3 and a southern part with 97 x E-138 EP3. The necessary work for network connection and infrastructure was started in 2019. The construction of the northern part is scheduled for the end of Q3 / 2021. The southern part will follow.
In this project, Enercon will be both the turnkey supplier of the wind turbines and a full-service partner in the near future. The Enercon partner concept (EPK) guarantees a technical availability of the systems of 98 percent. In addition, Enercon is also responsible for the commercial and technical plant operation. The extensive commitment of Enercon was an important factor for CSEIP in the selection and decision-making for this attractive wind farm project in northern Sweden.
