Doosan Energy and E1 have agreed to work together on initiatives using clean ammonia and hydrogen.

In accordance with this contract, the two businesses will work together strategically along the whole value chain, including the production, storage, delivery, and use of clean hydrogen and ammonia. Additionally, it intends to establish a consultative group to seek out and advance relevant commercial prospects.

Doosan Energy offers the fundamental technologies required for business growth, such as the hydrogen/natural gas mixed combustion hydrogen turbine that lowers carbon emissions, water electrolysis, which creates hydrogen through the electrolysis of water, and ammonia cracking, which produces hydrogen from ammonia. It intends to set up the best infrastructure and make strategies to support operations based on EPC performance capabilities.

E1 intends to work together to create an ideal supply chain, including identifying the demand for hydrogen and figuring out how to distribute ammonia and clean hydrogen based on LPG storage, transportation, supply infrastructure, and distribution business capabilities.

The head of Doosan Energy’s Plant EPC BG, In-won Park, stated: “It is significant to begin a collaboration with E1, a green energy firm, to advance the era of clean hydrogen and ammonia. We will work to contribute in a variety of ways to carbon neutrality and carbon neutrality.

According to Koo Dong-hwi, CEO of E1’s new growth business division, “we expect that the two firms will be able to accomplish win-win in the hydrogen and ammonia industries through cooperation with Doosan Energy, which has the best EPC capabilities in the energy and power generating fields.” We will usher in the era of pure hydrogen and ammonia together.

Doosan Energy developed a sizable gas turbine for power generation in 2019 and successfully acquired the original gas turbine technology. Based on this, a nationwide initiative to create a combustor for hydrogen turbines will begin in 2020. By 2025, it will have 50% hydrogen co-firing, and by 2027, it will have 100% hydrogen-electric power turbine technology.
