In line with the national strategy in this regard and taking into account the growing interest around the world in green hydrogen projects as a promising source of energy in the future, President Abdel Fattah El Sisi emphasized the need to continue bolstering efforts in collaboration with international expertise in green hydrogen energy generation using renewable energy.
According to a statement released on Sunday by the Presidency Spokesperson, Bassam Rady, the President made his remarks during a meeting with the Prime Minister, Dr. Mostafa Madbouly, and the Minister of Electricity and Renewable Energy, Dr. Mohamed Shaker, to discuss the Ministry of Electricity’s ongoing projects across the country, particularly in the new and renewable energy sectors and electricity interconnection projects with neighboring countries.
In collaboration and partnership with foreign experts, Dr. Shaker assessed national projects in the area of electricity generation from innovative and renewable sources of energy, primarily wind and solar energy.
This is in line with Egypt’s integrated and sustainable energy policy, which seeks to use 42% renewable energy in its electrical mix by 2035, especially in light of the country’s upcoming hosting of the World Climate Summit in Sharm El-Sheikh in November.
In order to strengthen the role of renewable energy, President El-Sisi emphasized the significance of extending efforts to produce parts for the production of new and renewable energy, particularly wind turbines and solar panels.
The primary goal is to diversify the energy supply sources that the nation’s development depends on. In Egypt, the national energy grid system has undergone extensive renovation, including upgrades to power generation, transmission lines, distribution hubs, and sophisticated electronic control centers.
Additionally, President El-Sisi received an update on the status of electrical connectivity projects with nearby nations, including Saudi Arabia, Greece, and Cyprus.
