At the 31st annual conference of Arab-US Policymakers, Oman’s foreign minister emphasized the country’s potential for producing solar and wind energy.

In his speech at the 31st annual Arab-US Policymakers Conference, held by the National Council on US-Arab Relations in Washington, H.E. Sayyid Badr bin Hamad al Busaidi, Minister of Foreign Affairs, affirmed that the conference provides a rich and necessary contribution to understanding the challenges, opportunities, and uncertainties in the Arab-American relations.

He continued by saying that the Council fosters thoughtful and intelligent cooperation that is underpinned by an international and humanitarian outlook. In addressing the ideas put forth regarding the future of Arab-American ties and the part that the United States wishes to play in the modern Arab world, he pointed out that the conference presents a serious and deliberate dialogue.

The Minister of Foreign Affairs mentioned in his speech some general contours of the restructuring process, the need for significant investments in renewable energy throughout the transition, and the Sultanate of Oman’s strong potential for solar and wind energy production. He mentioned that according to one assessment, the Sultanate of Oman’s potential for green hydrogen is ten times more than its present oil and gas production.

His Excellency emphasized that the Sultanate is working to encourage innovation by supporting Omani youth to develop goods, services, and small businesses and that Oman’s Vision 2040 has made this a top priority. He went on to explain that technological development will be crucial for economic diversification, building partnerships with future technology innovators, and inviting them to present their ideas and actions in the Sultanate of Oman. He emphasized the need to make sure that the new economy gives every person a chance to prosper in the nation.

“The American participation in the region will support security, stability, and prosperity more effectively than it was before through the development and implementation of policies that seek to decarbonize, achieve economic diversification, and promote social inclusion,” the speaker said as he wrapped up his speech.
