In Lyon, a hydrogen pipeline for the Vallée de la Chimie

Everything in the fast-developing hydrogen sector needs to be envisaged, starting with how this energy will be distributed since it will be needed to decarbonize both industry and transportation. A green hydrogen generation project in Auvergne Rhône-Alpes that is connected to the construction of the first kilometer of a pipeline to supply the Lyon chemical valley could even represent the first stone of a European distribution network. With the controllers, the business CNR intends to simultaneously develop its own hydrogen strategy by 2030 by cooperating with Engie.

Even though it won’t be quite a kilometer long, it is already the center of interest. In order to emphasize a project of strategic importance in a region that had positioned itself very early, even before the health crisis, in the development of its hydrogen industry, the project was formally launched at the Auvergne Rhône-Alpes Regional Council’s main offices.

Because it was still necessary to increase the supply of the stations that would be built with green hydrogen after experimental initiatives for the decarbonization of mobility, such as Hympulsion and Zero Emission Valley, were completed. Particularly given that the energy crisis and the limits set for reducing CO2 emissions have significantly raised the industry’s needs locally.

Drees & Sommer and Horváth work together to support the hydrogen ecosystem

The global management consulting firm and the real estate firm established in Luxembourg are combining their knowledge to assist the demand for less carbon-intensive business models. Their main area of interest will be hydrogen consulting.
Hydrogen “is currently experiencing unparalleled political and corporate momentum, with the number of policies and projects around the world rising fast,” according to research by the International Energy Association. The need is only anticipated to rise as we move toward a less carbon-intensive future.

Horváth and Drees & Sommer have agreed to strengthen their current relationship in order to assist clients in the development and implementation of hydrogen plans and projects, demonstrating that they have recognized this trend. Stefan Kaufmann, the former in charge of hydrogen in the German government, is accompanying them.

Aberdeen council leaders won a prestigious award for their work on hydrogen with a Japanese city

Aberdeen council leaders have been recognized with a prestigious award for their work on hydrogen with a Japanese city. The US Department of Energy recognized the local authority’s efforts in the field with a Twin Cities award in the sibling cities category for a partnership with the city of Kobe.

In order to build on their agreement from 2019, Aberdeen and Kobe signed a new memorandum of understanding this year, stating their commitment to cooperating on hydrogen initiatives.

Huadian Heavy Lands $48 Million Deal to Build Hydrogen Power Station

Investors are still wary of hydrogen vehicles

“There are several territorial projects, and we are now moving forward. When speaking at a round table about the Hynamics hydrogen station project in Belfort on the occasion of the Horizons Hydrogène conference, Gautier Chatelus, deputy director of the infrastructure and mobility department of Caisse des Dépôts, said: “There are still a lot of things to demonstrate in mobility, but all the bricks are moving forward.” The specific project business, Hy4, has two financial partners: Banque des Territoires and Demeter.

LEGO Design For Hexagon Purus Class 8 Fuel Cell Truck Systems

Hexagon Purus has unveiled its new line of truck powertrains for ZEV trucks in the class 6 to 8 market. Hexagon wants to produce small series of trucks for larger OEMs as California’s new ZEV truck rules start to take effect. It is estimated that it will take a decade or two for the hydrogen economy to advance.

H2SITE inaugurates production plant for palladium alloy membranes to obtain hydrogen

H2SITE has launched the world’s first membrane manufacturing plant to obtain hydrogen from ammonia or methanol, and separate hydrogen from low-concentration gas blends. The new facility will industrialize the production of membranes, the technological heart of H2SITE, used in the construction of hydrogen production reactors and separators. Similar membranes made of palladium alloys had been so far very costly, fragile, and difficult to manufacture and scale. H2SITE has managed to overcome these obstacles.

CHARBONE HYDROGEN executes MoU with TELESYTEM ENERGY

In order to enable the production of green hydrogen, for the research, design, building, and operation of the first riverbed hydrokinetic project exhibiting Telesystem’s TE-1 power system.

While Telesystem will use its expertise to assist Charbone in choosing an appropriate location, Charbone will use its expertise in the development, construction, and operation of renewable power systems. Telesystem will also provide a distinct renewable power generation technology in the TE-1 power system.

Opel Boss on Hydrogen

Will hydrogen be a mainstream technology?

Huettl: Technology clearly has its place. We have now started in the commercial vehicle sector with the Vivaro-e Hydrogen. The first vehicles are on the road with customers. The technology has a lot of advantages, especially for light commercial vehicles and commercial applications: If you have to travel long distances and move larger loads, the fuel cell comes into play. Production will soon be industrialized at the Stellantis Hordain plant. In addition, hydrogen has a decisive advantage: You can generate, store and transport the energy carrier green.

Green hydrogen to decarbonize New Jersey power plant

To aid in the decarbonization of the Bayonne Energy Center in New Jersey, two energy developers unveiled a plan to expand the facility’s green hydrogen capacity. A sub-Hudson cable carries electricity from the peaking plant, a 644 MW natural gas-fired facility, to New York City.

The project’s developers, NovoHydrogen and TigerGenCo (TGC), announced that Ohmium International would supply PEM electrolyzers.

When Bayonne Energy Center was first being constructed, Hess Corporation and ArcLight Capital Partners worked together on the project.

The plant began operating in 2012, and a 6.5-mile, 345-kV submarine transmission cable running from Brooklyn to New York Bay is how it is connected to the grid. The power plant and a substation were connected by what ABB dubbed the first cross-linked polyethylene cable system in the history of the globe in 2012.

The plant started an expansion project in 2016 that raised its capacity from 512 MW to 644 MW.

SSE plans hydrogen

SSE’s half-year profits rose to £450 million thanks to gas-fired power plants and gas storage, but the operator is planning 2 GW of carbon capture and hydrogen storage capacity with a focus on the low-carbon future.

According to its interim figures, the electricity infrastructure company said that it invested nearly four times (£1.7bn) as much as it did in profits during the first half of its financial year.

According to SSE’s own calculations, the UK’s gas spending this year could have been reduced by over £30 billion if the system investment needed to fulfill 2030 targets had been completed by 2022.
