Globaldata estimates that the electrolyzer pipeline was above 1065 GW at the end of 2022. According to a Zawya estimate, the overall installed capacity of the world was just 300 megawatts (MW), and the total production capacity was only 2 GW globally in 2020.

According to the research, the top electrolyser producers include Hydrog(e)nics, Nel ASA, ThyssenKrupp, ITM Power, HydrogenPro, Enapter, and Plug Power. These companies have received orders to supply the necessary capacity.

The top two producers of electrolysers are Hydrog(e)nics and Nel, with 811 ktpa and 680 ktpa of capacity in the works, respectively.

By the end of 2022, the overall pipeline capacity for green hydrogen projects had grown to 166 mtpa, or more than 90% of the anticipated capacity for low-carbon hydrogen.

The major businesses proposing to create the most capacity include Green Hydrogen International (GHI), Suez Canal Economic Zone, the New and Renewable Energy Authority, the Sovereign Fund of Egypt, the Egyptian Electricity Transmission Company, and H2 Clean Energy, it was observed.

The top two developers in terms of capacity are GHI with 37,032 ktpa and SCZone with 7,745 ktpa. The third and fourth positions are held by Egypt’s Ministry of Electricity and Renewable Energy (New and Renewable Energy Authority) and Sovereign Wealth Fund of Egypt (TSFE), respectively, with capacities of 6,798 ktpa and 6678 ktpa.

According to the survey, Globeleq Africa, Linde, John Wood Group, ThyssenKrupp, H2-Industries, Alcazar energy, and Samsung Engineering are the top EPC (engineering, procurement, and construction) firms bidding for green hydrogen projects.

With 2,000 ktpa in the works, Globeleq tops the EPC list. Linde comes in second with less than half that capacity under construction.
