Cllr Tom Ross, Leader of Trafford Council, has visited the Trafford site, which will house Greater Manchester’s first low carbon hydrogen centre.
By assisting the region’s effort to achieve net zero carbon emissions by 2038, Trafford Green Hydrogen, which is being developed by Carlton Power, will support Trafford Council’s corporate priority of addressing our climate issue.
The Trafford Low Carbon Energy Park is home to Trafford Green Hydrogen. It will utilise renewable energy to manufacture green hydrogen fuel for use in industry as well as transportation, making it the largest project of its sort in the UK to have received planning permission.
Together with the Greater Manchester Combined Authority, Manchester Metropolitan University, Cadent, and Energy North West, Trafford Council is a project partner.
After receiving planning permission from the Council in October 2022, Trafford Green Hydrogen intends to begin operations in 2025.
The plant will produce hydrogen using wind and solar energy. This is acknowledged as a crucial component of the UK’s goal to achieve net zero carbon emissions by 2050.
