The National Commission of Markets and Competition has just given the power provider permission to transfer ownership of both facilities from EDP Spain to two separate businesses: Aboo Generación Eléctricas and Grupo 4 Combinado Cycle Thermal Power Plant.
Both businesses will be established at the time of the segregation operation, having received administrative approval from the Directorate-General for Energy Policy, and will be the owners of the transmission-related facilities.
The European Commission has previously deemed the Soto de Ribera project and the Aboo facility, which intends to become the Asturian hydrogen Valley, important projects.
Aboo, which submitted a request for this license on November 8, is a coal-using power plant with two generation units (coal and anthracite). The net power generation capacity of Group 1 is 341.79 MW. The net electricity capacity of Group 2 is 561,885 MW.
On August 22, EDP also asked Grupo 4 Combinado Cycle Thermal Power Plant to receive ownership of the Soto 5 Combined Cycle Thermal Power Station, which was formerly owned by EDP Spain.
The municipality of Ribera de Arriba is where Group 5 of the Soto de Ribera Combined Cycle Thermal Power Station is situated (Asturias). It is a generation group with a total net power capacity of 428.13 MW.
In contrast, the EDP company also completed the purchase of 77Sol in Brazil today in partnership with Crescera Capital, allowing it to keep expanding its operations there.
