Hydrogen Elektriske Byggeplasser AS (HEB) has long been committed to finding eco-friendly solutions for construction sites, and their ambitions to establish a hydrogen filling station are coming to fruition with the aid of Hynion.

This partnership aims to set up a demo station in Kristiansand, operational by Q1 2024, to supply hydrogen to vehicles in the region. Toyota Norway will also play a crucial role by offering the Toyota Mirai to public actors, universities, and private car owners, further promoting the adoption of hydrogen-powered vehicles. This groundbreaking collaboration paves the way for emission-free transportation and a greener future in Region Sør.

HEB specializes in developing and selling solutions that utilize hydrogen to create emission-free construction sites. The upcoming hydrogen filling station in Kristiansand, supported by Hynion, will serve as a demonstration platform for hydrogen-powered vehicles in the region. The primary goal is to introduce hydrogen-powered vehicles for various applications, catering to the region’s diverse transportation needs. The project also includes a service agreement between HEB and Hynion for five years, ensuring continued support and maintenance.

Hydrogen is a versatile energy carrier that can power various vehicles and machinery, emitting only water vapor when used in fuel cells. The establishment of a hydrogen filling station is an essential step towards promoting cleaner transportation alternatives and reducing carbon emissions.

The hydrogen filling station’s successful operation in Kristiansand will mark a significant milestone in the region’s transition towards emission-free transportation. By embracing hydrogen-powered vehicles, public actors, universities, and private car owners can collectively contribute to reducing greenhouse gas emissions and combating climate change. The availability of a hydrogen infrastructure will also encourage more vehicle manufacturers to offer hydrogen-powered options, thereby expanding the market for clean transportation.

Additionally, hydrogen-powered machinery and equipment can further promote sustainable practices in construction and industrial sectors, where emissions have traditionally been challenging to address. The successful deployment of hydrogen applications in the region will serve as a model for other areas, inspiring broader adoption of hydrogen technology across Norway and beyond.

The joint effort by HEB, Hynion, and Toyota Norway to establish a hydrogen filling station in Region Sør is a groundbreaking initiative towards achieving a greener and cleaner future. By promoting hydrogen-powered vehicles and machinery, the region can significantly reduce carbon emissions, enhance air quality, and inspire other regions to follow suit. The success of this project will not only advance sustainable transportation but also set an example for sustainable practices in the construction and industrial sectors. As hydrogen technology continues to mature, its potential to revolutionize the transportation and energy sectors becomes ever more evident, taking us a step closer to a carbon-neutral world.
