South Korean hydrogen energy startup BTE is poised for significant global expansion with a groundbreaking supply contract valued at 46 billion won in the U.S. market. The contract, signed with H2Strategics of the United States, is set to redefine eco-friendly energy solutions and accelerate the adoption of hydrogen technology.

The cornerstone of this ambitious venture is BTE’s cutting-edge product, the ‘GEN50’ hydrogen fuel cell generator. Over the next three years, BTE will supply H2Strategics with these 50kW generators, marking the beginning of a transformative journey. With a commitment of 46 billion won, BTE aims to supply these generators continuously until 2026, with the initial batch scheduled for delivery to the Los Angeles area in California in June 2024.

The GEN50 generator utilizes hydrogen fuel cells specifically designed for vehicles, but this time, it will be supplied in a customized format tailored to H2Strategics’ requirements. A BTE spokesperson explained, “We expedited the commercialization process by leveraging our in-house technology, development expertise, and extensive experience in manufacturing hydrogen charging equipment and fuel cells.”

The GEN50 is not just another generator; it’s a game-changer in the world of eco-friendly energy solutions. This 50kW compact generator is poised to serve diverse applications, from powering electric vehicle charging stations to supporting content production sites such as movie sets. It will also play a crucial role as a water supply pump for wineries in California, aligning with the region’s sustainability goals.

BTE is no stranger to innovation and recognition. In January of this year, the company made a significant impact by participating in the U.S. CES 2023 and clinching two innovation awards. This achievement underscores BTE’s commitment to pushing the boundaries of hydrogen technology.

To meet the production demands under this groundbreaking contract, BTE has devised strategic plans. The company intends to relocate its headquarters to Boryeong-si, South Chungcheong Province, and embark on the construction of a new factory by June next year.

The BTE-H2Strategics partnership signifies a significant leap towards a sustainable energy future. By supplying hydrogen generators that harness the power of eco-friendly hydrogen fuel cells, BTE is not only driving innovation but also contributing to the global transition towards cleaner, greener energy solutions. As the world seeks ways to reduce its carbon footprint and embrace renewable energy, ventures like this hold the promise of a brighter, more sustainable future.
