Topsoe, a global leader in carbon emission reduction technologies, has entered into a significant contract with Allied, a prominent developer of energy infrastructure projects. The collaboration aims to implement Topsoe’s dynamic green ammonia technology for Allied’s groundbreaking project in Gove, Northern Territory, Australia.

The primary goal of this collaboration is to produce green ammonia for export to the expanding South East Asian markets, responding to the increasing demand for eco-friendly fuels. The project, set to commence production in Q4 2028/Q1 2029, targets an impressive capacity of 2,500 MTPD (Metric Tons Per Day). The initiative aligns with broader efforts to reduce carbon emissions, with an estimated annual CO2 savings of 1.4 million tons compared to conventional ammonia production methods.

Allied anticipates that the Gove project will generate up to 2,000 direct construction jobs and 500 direct and indirect jobs for over 25 years. Beyond environmental benefits, the venture is poised to make a significant economic contribution to the region, fostering job growth and sustainable development.

Topsoe’s dynamic green ammonia technology is at the forefront of carbon reduction strategies. The technology not only facilitates the production of eco-friendly fuels for energy-intensive industries but also enhances energy efficiency. Furthermore, discussions are underway to integrate Topsoe’s Solid Oxide Electrolyzer Cell (SOEC) technology for green hydrogen production, showcasing a holistic approach to sustainable energy solutions.

Kim Hedegaard, CEO Power-to-X at Topsoe, expressed enthusiasm about supporting Australia’s growing demand for e-fuels production. The collaboration with Allied aligns with Topsoe’s commitment to delivering carbon reduction technologies in the pursuit of net-zero goals. The endorsement from local entities, including the Gumatj Corporation and the Northern Territory government, underscores the strategic significance of the green ammonia project in Gove.
