Metacon and Siemens have partnered to expedite the development of hydrogen production systems in Sweden.

Metacon has secured exclusive rights to produce full electrolysis plants using PERIC’s pressurized alkaline electrolysis modules. PERIC’s technology, especially its 5 MW and 10 MW modules, has a longstanding track record of reliability and effectiveness, with over a decade of successful operation and continuous improvements spanning more than 60 years. This access allows Metacon to employ well-established technology tailored for the European market, addressing both safety and automation standards essential for hydrogen production.

Siemens will serve as a crucial technology partner, bringing its extensive capabilities in automation, power distribution, electrification, and digital services. Siemens’ involvement is expected to enhance and streamline both the production and operational stages of hydrogen plants. Their expertise in providing comprehensive solutions for instrumentation, building technology, and drive products will play a pivotal role in this collaboration.

The partnership aligns with Siemens’ global strategy to invest in Power-to-X technology, promoting sustainable solutions for a greener world. This initiative represents a concerted effort to integrate Siemens’ advanced digital services and software for process optimization and simulation, furthering the efficiency and effectiveness of hydrogen production systems.

By combining Metacon’s expertise in hydrogen production technology with Siemens’ proficiency in automation and digital services, the partnership aims to position itself as a leading player in the European hydrogen market. This collaboration is expected to drive forward the adoption of large-scale hydrogen plants, addressing the growing demand for sustainable energy solutions.

This partnership comes at a time when the hydrogen sector is witnessing significant advancements and increased investments globally. The use of established technologies like PERIC’s modules, combined with Siemens’ digital optimization, sets a benchmark for future projects in terms of efficiency, reliability, and scalability.
