According to a statement from Karsan, the company aims to be at the forefront of “Mobility’s Future” by offering services with over 1,100 electric vehicles spread across 23 countries, focusing mainly on Europe. The company is accelerating its investment in new-generation technology, represented by hydrogen fuel cell (Fuel Cell) models.

In September 2022, Karsan introduced its e-ATA Hydrogen model to the world at the IAA Transportation Fair held in Germany. To further its advancements in hydrogen technology, Karsan has signed a collaboration agreement with Toyota, one of the leading automotive and technology manufacturers globally.

As part of this partnership, Karsan plans to use Toyota Fuel Cell Modules in its hydrogen vehicles to diversify its technological solutions. The hydrogen buses equipped with Toyota Fuel Cell Modules are expected to be launched in the market by 2025. Toyota produces its fuel cell systems in its facilities in Zaventem, Belgium.

Okan BaÅŸ, the CEO of Karsan, stated that the company’s goal is to provide the best service to its customers by continuously striving for technological advancements. He highlighted that the company’s vision, “A Step Ahead in Mobility’s Future,” aims to provide the most reliable and high-performance mobility solutions.

Expressing satisfaction with their collaboration with Toyota, BaÅŸ emphasized that Toyota is known for its over 30 years of experience in hydrogen technology, spanning from automotive to maritime transportation and railways to freight transport. He noted that Karsan sees hydrogen as a priority area for environmentally friendly and innovative technologies, underscored by the launch of the e-ATA Hydrogen at the end of 2022. This collaboration with Toyota aims to strengthen its position in the hydrogen sector further with advanced Japanese technology.

Toyota’s Perspective

Thiebault Paquet, Vice President of Toyota Motor Europe’s Hydrogen Factory, expressed Toyota’s belief in hydrogen’s critical role in reducing the carbon footprint of public transportation in the future. He shared Toyota’s enthusiasm for supplying Fuel Cell Modules to Karsan and expanding their partnership to advance towards a hydrogen society.
