Buru Energy’s 2H Resources, a subsidiary focusing on hydrogen and helium, is making strides in exploring these resources with support from Buru’s geological and technological know-how.
2H Resources, leveraging Buru’s onshore exploration experience, is conducting exploration across a vast 65,000-square-kilometer area in Western Australia, South Australia, and Tasmania. This targeted portfolio is linked to regions associated with helium and hydrogen, positioning 2H at the forefront of Australia’s emerging market for these gases.
The exploration program is tailored to the early stages of the industry, utilizing a comprehensive approach that incorporates data from various geological sources. The company is examining geological structures and processes such as serpentinisation and seismic activity, indicative of hydrogen and helium generation.
2H Resources is committed to sustainable exploration practices, employing innovative technologies in collaboration with organizations like CSIRO. This includes low-impact seismic methods and portable gas sampling equipment, allowing for detailed data collection while minimizing environmental disturbance. Buru CEO Thomas Nador emphasizes that their extensive expertise and a solid portfolio of prospective areas, combined with increasing governmental support, are driving 2H Resources’ progress in this nascent industry.
Looking ahead to 2025, 2H Resources plans to commence on-ground field activities to further assess commercial viability across its permit areas.
