A Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) was signed by ACWA Power with Indonesia’s state-owned fertilizer manufacturer Pupuk Indonesia to construct a giga scale green hydrogen project.
The largest fertilizer producer in Southeast Asia is Pupuk Indonesia PT (Persero), with total assets of 34.42 trillion Indonesian Rupiah ($2.2 billion) and an annual production capacity of 12.71 million tonnes. The business earlier penned a Memorandum of Understanding with PT Perusahaan Listrik Negara, Indonesia’s state-owned energy provider (PLN).
The study for a 600–800 megawatt pumped-storage hydroelectricity facility, the feasibility of a 4 gigawatt battery energy storage system, and the creation of a hydroelectricity driven green hydrogen/ammonia facility were all included in the scope of the MoU.
With a contract for $105 million to create two floating solar PV projects for PT Perusahaan Listrik Negara (Persero) or PLN, ACWA Power entered the South East Asian market last November. This was the portfolio company’s first floating solar PV project.
